Gränsfors Axe File with Leather CoverThe Gränsfors Axe File is a fine-toothed iron file designed for restoring axe edges that have taken heavier damage. It features two filing faces and a compact wooden handle that thickens near the blade, giving you a secure, comfortable grip and good control while working. This file is most often used when an axe edge has larger nicks or notches that need to be ground down before finishing with a sharpening stone or whetstone. It removes material efficiently while still allowing precise control over the edge shape. The file is normally used with water, which helps keep the teeth clean and reduces clogging, though it can also be used dry when needed. Supplied with a vegetable-tanned leather sheath, it’s easy to store safely in a tool roll or pack.Gränsfors Bruk offers several sharpening options, including the Axe File, Sharpening Stone, Diamond File, and Natural Whetstone. While similar in purpose, they differ in material, grit, and shape. Choosing the right tool comes down to personal preference and how much material you need to remove from the edge.Key FeaturesFine-toothed iron axe file with two filing facesDesigned for removing larger notches and edge damageWooden handle with thicker grip area for controlCan be used with water or drySupplied with vegetable-tanned leather sheathSpecificationsOverall length: 14 cm (with handle)Blade length: 7.5 cmWeight: 74 gSheath: Vegetable-tanned leatherABOUT GRANSFORS BRUKFor more than 100 years, Gränsfors Bruk has built up a business around the production of hand-forged axes and axe knowledge. When selecting your axe, it becomes crucial to determine its intended purpose. Are you planning to use it for chopping wood in the forest or constructing a log house? The main difference between axes is the edge. Most commonly, the edge faces the direction of travel, parallel with the handle. There are also axes where the edge is perpendicular, although these are less common. Examples include Gränsfors Bruk’s Straight Adzes and Gutter Adzes.A typical chopper is Gränsfors Bruk’s Splitting Axe, which has quite a thin edge but a much broader and thicker poll. This helps to split the wood apart. A prime example of a carving axe is Gränsfors Bruk’s Carpenter’s Axe. This has a long, thin and straight edge with a straight, pointed bevel face and a narrower poll, which makes it perfect for carving. The Carpenter’s Axe is not suitable for heavier work such as tree felling and log splitting. The pointed angle of the blade is not designed for that.In today’s world, people primarily use axes as tools, and they can be categorized into three main groups: Forest Axes, Splitting Axes, and Log-building Axes.Explore More with our Camping gear:Enhance your Camping experience by checking out our full range of Camping Gear.Visit our YouTube Channel:For in-depth insights and demonstrations, head over to our YouTube channel.
